Free Martha Stewart Thanksgiving Cookbook

Make this year’s Thanksgiving feast your most memorable ever with help from Martha Stewart and an esteemed group of our nation’s top chefs, including Emeril Lagasse, Sara Moulton and Eric Ripert.

Download your FREE copy of the cookbook from Martha Stewart Living Radio on Sirius XM Satellite radio.  You can get the entire cookbook or download each chapter individually.

There are some really yummy-looking recipes in here!  The Sweet Potato Turkey Chowder and the Butternut Squash Lasagna are two that caught my eye.

Free Cookbooks

Here are some free cookbooks I found this evening.  The first two are in .pdf format so you can download them to your computer or upload them to Google Docs, like I did.

and I don't know if you can download it, but this one is just very cool! Gold Medal Whole Wheat Baking.

The recipes in all of them look really good!  I am definitely going to have to try some of them.

This recipe for Mojito Bars from the Spring Cookbook really looks yummy - and appropriate, too since I read somewhere that today is National Mojito Day.  Did you even know there was such a thing?  It's a shame I almost killed my mint plant and don't have enough leaves to actually make a mojito today!

Free 2010 Calendar

The Pillsbury logo.Image via Wikipedia

Pillsbury is offering a Free 2010 Calendar to new email subscribers to their Pillsbury or Cooking 4 Two newsletters. I've been subscribed to the Pillsbury newsletter for a while but hadn't tried the Cooking 4 Two newsletter, so I was eligible for my free calendar. Just put your email address into the box at the top and click the 'Check Member Status' button to see if you're eligible.

It's hard to believe, but I think the Cooking 4 Two newsletter is going to come in really handy. It promises delicious recipes just for two, tips for scaling down your favorite recipes, and much more! I pretty much cook for 3 of us nowadays, but since one of us is a teenage boy, it's like cooking for more! But, once he goes away to college or moves out, which won't really be that long now, I am going to need to rethink my cooking practices - because there will only be the two of us.

While I was on the site signing up for my calendar, I logged in and grabbed a few recipes and saved them to my 'Recipe Box' because signing up for one of the newsletters also gives you full access to the Pillsbury.com website where you can find and save all kinds of yummy-looking recipes. I am definitely going to have to try these Cranberry Orange-Glazed Cinnamon Rolls. Don't they look yummy?

Free Cookbook

Get a free Martha Stewart Thanksgiving cookbook from Sirius. It features over 30 recipes from Martha Stewart and other famous chefs such as Emeril Lagasse, Nigella Lawson, and Mario Batali. The recipes cover all courses of the Thanksgiving meal, from savory turkey to fresh salads and creamy mashed potatoes to sweet desserts. I've looked through the table of contents and found a few recipes that sound really good.

The cookbook is in pdf format, so you can download and save it, or print it for yourself.

Recipe Matcher

I heard on GMA yesterday that the average U.S. household throws out nearly a quarter of the fruits and vegetables it buys. For a family of four, that adds up to about $500 each year, according to a study by the University of Arizona. Read the rest of the story to learn how to store your food to keep it fresher and make it last longer.

RecipeMatcher looks like a handy site to help you use the foods you have so they don't go to waste. Occasionally I might throw something out, but I don't think it's nearly a quarter of my produce. Maybe it's because I cook this way on a regular basis - planning meals around whatever's in the refrigerator that needs to be used. I think it's important to use what you have. Otherwise, you're just wasting money.

Check your refrigerator and pantry, visit Recipe Matcher, and start typing in the ingredients you have on hand that need to be used. You can also choose the type of recipe you want and what your main ingredient should be, and then search to find recipes using the ingredients you have. You'll get a whole list of recipes to choose from. Each recipe lets you know how long it takes to prepare as well as the other ingredients you'll need.

It looks like anyone can search and find recipes, but signing up for a free account lets you leave comments, keep an online pantry, make and print shopping lists, keep lists of your favorite recipes, and even submit your own, so I signed up. I'm guessing that once I stock my online pantry by checking off all the items I have in my refrigerator, freezer, and pantry, the recipes will fit my needs even better, because the site will be able to suggest recipes I have all the ingredients for.
